The biblical account
Prepared narrative summary · not a Scripture quotation
God tells Noah that the earth's violence has brought judgment and gives instructions for an ark. The account specifies timber, compartments, waterproofing, dimensions, an opening, a door, and three levels. This is not presented as Noah inventing a way to conquer the coming waters. He receives a task ordered toward survival. God promises a covenant and names the household that will enter: Noah, his wife, his sons, and their wives. Living creatures and stored food also belong within the provision. The chapter closes with Noah carrying out the instructions. In the narrative, faithful response takes material form through shelter, preparation, and attention to the needs of lives other than his own.
Historical context
The timber term and some architectural details are uncertain in translation; conversions of cubits into modern measurements are approximate. No excavated vessel is securely established as Noah's ark. Artwork notice: this is a reused contextual reconstruction, NOT event-specific artwork. The pictured mountain and camp are not an ark-building site, and no ark is shown.
