Scripture & AI Disclaimer

Last updated:October 20, 2026

Selah Rooted exists to help people read Scripture carefully. Part of what Selah offers is generated with artificial intelligence, and this page states plainly what that does and does not mean.

The Scripture you read

Selah displays the World English Bible (WEB), the King James Version (KJV) and the American Standard Version (ASV). These are public-domain translations in the United States, and Selah does not claim ownership of them. The King James Version remains subject to Crown copyright in the United Kingdom and some other countries, so readers in those places should check the conditions that apply to them.[Owner/legal review needed:confirm translation licensing for each language edition before adding more]

Where Selah does not have a licensed text for a language, that edition stays unavailable instead of being filled in with a substitute translation.

AI-assisted explanations are study aids

Study With Me explanations and Ask Selah answers are generated by Anthropic's Claude. They are study aids, not authoritative religious teaching. They are not Scripture, not a substitute for a church, teacher or pastoral counsel, and they make no claim to divine authority.

Explanations aim to separate three things — what the text actually says, the historical background, and interpretation — and to say so when they are unsure. Generated explanations may still contain errors or reflect a particular interpretive perspective. Check every explanation against the passage itself and, where helpful, against trusted biblical resources or qualified teachers.

What your questions send

When you ask a question, the verse you select, its text and the words you type are sent to Anthropic to produce an answer, under Anthropic's own API data policies. Please do not include sensitive personal details in your questions.
