The biblical account

Prepared narrative summary · not a Scripture quotation

Noah removes the covering and sees that the surface of the ground is drying. The narrative records another interval before the earth is described as dry and God tells him to leave. Noah does not step out alone: his wife, sons, and their wives emerge, followed by the living creatures. The purpose is renewed life upon the earth. What had been gathered into a confined place is released again. This departure is quieter than the coming of the flood, but it carries its own weight. Survival becomes the beginning of responsibility, not the completion of the story. The world beyond the ark must now be inhabited.

Historical context

Genesis gives a sequence of dates within the narrative, but these do not establish an independently verified calendar year. The departure site is unknown. Artwork notice: this is a reused contextual reconstruction of dry mountain terrain, NOT event-specific artwork. Its tents, figure, and bush do not show the ark's landing or Noah's departure.

When a crisis ends, what responsibilities begin rather than disappear?
